Gabrielle Meyerowitz’s work is process-based , site-derived , site-specific & intraactive . It includes painting , poetry , found-objects , new-media , performance & installation .

She looks towards the root of things and experience to find continuity within the invisible hidden surface-biases of the everyday . She seeks ways to uncover these unconscious biases , exposing their light to weave connection between the seemingly disparate , labelled , or “foreign” . This search for extracting an archetypal timeless mythology is what drives her art .

She studied at Pratt Institute and Art Students League in New York , & École Jacques Lecoq , in Paris . She was an apprentice to two multi-disciplinary artists ; the first , artist-activist Gabrielle Senza in the US , the second , theatre director and performance-artist , Irina Brook in France & travelling across Europe . Her education is a patchwork of nontraditional & traditional schooling and this directly feeds into the execution of her oeuvres . She’s a life-long yogi and this practice is integral to her pieces .

In 2012 , her home-studio became an antique suitcase found discarded on the suburban streets of Paris outside where she was living , and dubbed it her “portable-studio” . This has allowed her to live in many places across many bodies of water , while remaining “home” . Inside her Valise , she always keeps an old French copy of Plato’s Symposium ( Plato’s dialogue on Love ) ; a pivotal text and foundational principle in her work since 2012 . Besides this , she travels empty-handed , and uses locally sourced found-materials for canvases and pigments .

Her raw & found pigments are made into traditional tempera & poems typically accompany the works in some unusual manner ( such as video projection , interactive audio , or handwritten on large fabric , etc ) .

Much of Gabrielle’s work is scattered across the world and these experiences and exchanges inform and reinforce the underlying drive in all her work : to highlight the connectivity between us despite societal/cultural differences , prejudices , labels , & personal story .

Gabrielle has shown her work in galleries & institutions such as ; Van Der Plas , Paul Callendrio Gallery , Rema Hort Foundation , Momenta Gallery & Slag Contemporary in New York City , Galerie Delanoy in Avignon , Oben and Galerie SWDZ in Vienna , and the Villa Arson & Theatre Nationale de Nice in Nice - to name a few . She was commissioned by Saks Fifth Avenue to create an installation in their downtown location at Brookfield in Wall Street area in 2018 & has work with Moinian Group in one of their buildings in Brooklyn . During Amory art week in NYC this fall 2025, Gabrielle performed her Mobile Confessionals piece as Clio art fair’s highlighted performances.

Current location: Goldsmiths University, London, receiving a Master’s Diploma of Art, 2025-2026.
